The novel situation healthcare centres are facing daily due to the COVID-19 may require new coordination needs, primarily because of additional employees being hired and the creation of teams with no previous history of shared work. Within this new context, briefings can be used at the beginning of every shift as a strategy to maintain the team informed on the latest developments, promote coordination and ease the onboarding process for the new hires. Briefing is particularly recommended when new employees have been hired (Resource nº 8) or if the staff has not teamed up previously, e.g., in primary care when teaming up two healthcare professionals for visits of COVID-19 patients at their homes.
